Author Guidelines

General Standards

Language Editing

Manuscripts submitted to CESL must meet international standards for English to be considered for publication. Articles are published only in English. Authors seeking language editing or proofing to improve clarity may use internal or external language services. Note that using language editing services does not guarantee acceptance. Editorial decisions are independent of whether a manuscript has received language editing or proofing.

Language Style

  • Default language style: American English.

  • If British English is preferred, authors should specify this on the first page of the manuscript.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

To maximize discoverability:

  • Include keywords in the title.

  • Keep titles concise and avoid abbreviations.

  • Select 3–5 keywords, mixing general and specific terms.

  • Use keywords in the first two sentences of the abstract and in level 1 headings.


Title

  • Written in title case, centered, Cambria font, top of the first page.

  • Should be concise and reflect the main result or conclusion.

Authors and Affiliations

  • List all authors together, separated by commas.

  • Affiliations keyed with superscript numbers: Institution/University/Organization, Country.

  • Corresponding authors marked with superscript and provide exact email addresses.

Headings and Subheadings

  • Headings: Cambria, 14 pt, bold, sentence case.

  • Subheadings: Cambria, 10.5 pt, bold, capitalize each word.

Abstract

  • Maximum 250 words in English, Cambria 9 pt.

  • Should include background, aims, methods, summary of results, and conclusions.

  • Keywords: 3–5 mandatory.

Text

  • Body: Cambria, 11 pt, single-spaced.

  • Include page and line numbers to facilitate review.

Sections

Manuscripts should be organized into:

  1. Introduction

  2. Methods

  3. Results and Discussion

  4. Conclusion

  5. Acknowledgments (if any)

  6. Author Contributions Statement

  7. References


Figures and Table Guidelines

General Guidelines for Figures

  • Use images to visualize key information clearly.

  • Include scale bars, label important items, and indicate color/symbol meanings.

General Guidelines for Tables

  • Tables should be concise, clearly structured, and easy to interpret.

  • Include: clear legend, categories for clarity, spacing between rows/columns, and units.

Figure and Table Requirements

Legends

  • Font: same as main text (Cambria, 11 pt, single-spaced).

  • Figures: legend placed at the end of manuscript; tables: legend immediately before the table.

  • Legends should be single paragraph.

Image Size

  • Figures prepared for PDF layout; not longer than one page; width suitable for 1 or 2 columns.

Format

  • Accepted: TIFF (.tif, LZW or non-lossy compression), JPEG (.jpg), EPS (.eps, upon acceptance).

Colour Image Mode

  • RGB mode required.

Resolution

  • Minimum 300 dpi at final size.

  • Avoid saving directly as JPEG or TIF without proper export to prevent quality loss.


Funding

  • Include all funding sources and grant numbers in the Funding section of the manuscript.

References

  • Follow APA 7th Edition style.

  • Use reference management tools (Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote).

  • Include DOI or retrieval link if available.
