Deposit Policy

Computers in Earth Science Letters (CESL) encourages transparency, reproducibility, and accessibility in research. To support these principles, the journal has a clear Deposit Policy regarding the archiving of research data, code, models, and other supplementary materials associated with published articles.

Data and Materials Deposit

  • Authors are encouraged to deposit all relevant research data, computational models, software, algorithms, and supplementary materials in recognized public repositories.

  • Deposited materials should be accessible, citable, and linked to the published article via DOI or stable URL.

  • Commonly recommended repositories include Zenodo, Dryad, Figshare, GitHub, institutional repositories, or discipline-specific archives relevant to Earth sciences and computational methods.

Timing of Deposit

  • Data and materials should ideally be deposited prior to publication to enable peer reviewers to access and verify the results.

  • If immediate deposit is not possible, authors must ensure materials are publicly available upon publication.

Citation of Deposited Materials

  • Authors should cite all deposited datasets, code, or supplementary materials in the manuscript.

  • The citation must include repository name, DOI or persistent identifier, and any relevant version information.

Confidentiality and Sensitive Data

  • If data cannot be shared publicly due to legal, ethical, or privacy concerns (e.g., human or endangered species data), authors must clearly explain these restrictions in the manuscript.

  • In such cases, CESL encourages controlled-access repositories or sharing upon reasonable request.

Compliance and Enforcement

  • CESL reserves the right to request deposition of data, code, or models as a condition for acceptance.

  • Failure to comply with the Deposit Policy without valid justification may result in delayed publication, correction notices, or rejection of the article.

Editorial Oversight

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board oversee compliance with the Deposit Policy, ensuring that all published research in CESL adheres to standards of transparency, reproducibility, and scientific integrity.
