Correction and Retraction

Correction and Retraction Policy of AI and Developmental Insights in Education (AIDIE)

AI and Developmental Insights in Education (AIDIE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. To uphold transparency and accuracy in scholarly publishing, the journal has established a formal policy for corrections and retractions of published articles when necessary. This policy aligns with the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Corrections Policy

Corrections are issued when minor or major errors are identified in a published article that could impact the understanding of the content but do not compromise the overall validity of the research.

Types of Corrections

Minor Corrections (Erratum):
Minor typographical errors, formatting issues, or errors that do not affect the overall results or conclusions of the article.
Examples: misspelled author names, incorrect affiliations, minor citation errors.
A correction notice (erratum) will be published online with a link to the original article.

Major Corrections (Corrigendum):
Significant factual errors that impact the interpretation of the data but do not invalidate the study.
Examples: data misreporting, incorrect figure labels, significant but unintentional mistakes in the methodology.
A corrigendum will be issued and linked to the original article, with an explanation of the corrected information.

Correction Process

Authors, readers, or reviewers who identify errors in a published article should notify the editorial office via email at foundae.aidie@gmail.com with the following details:

  • Title of the article and DOI.
  • A description of the identified error.
  • A proposed correction with supporting evidence.

The editorial team will assess the request and determine whether a formal correction is required. If approved, corrections will be made with a transparent note detailing the changes.

2. Retraction Policy

Retractions are considered when a published article is found to contain serious ethical violations, fundamental errors, or scientific misconduct that significantly undermine the integrity of the research. Retractions may be requested by the authors, editorial board, or raised by third-party concerns.

Grounds for Retraction

  • Ethical Violations: Plagiarism or duplicate publication, undisclosed conflicts of interest, breaches of ethical guidelines related to human or animal research.
  • Scientific Misconduct: Fabrication or falsification of data, manipulated images, or deliberate misrepresentation of results.
  • Fundamental Errors: Significant methodological flaws or critical errors that alter the study's conclusions.

Retraction Process

  • Investigation: The editorial board conducts a thorough review of concerns, consulting with reviewers, authors, and independent experts.
  • Notification: The corresponding author is informed of the potential retraction and given an opportunity to respond.
  • Decision: If retraction is warranted, a retraction notice will be published.
  • Retraction Notice: A statement explaining the reasons for retraction will be issued, and the original article will be marked as "Retracted."
  • Indexing Update: Databases like Google Scholar, Crossref, and Dimensions will be notified to update their records.

Author Responsibilities in Retraction Requests

  • A clear explanation of the reasons for retraction.
  • Signed confirmation from all co-authors agreeing to the retraction request.
  • A willingness to cooperate with the editorial review process.

3. Retraction Statement Content

The retraction statement will include:

  • The title of the retracted article and its DOI.
  • The reason for the retraction, specifying whether due to ethical concerns, errors, or misconduct.
  • The date of retraction and any relevant acknowledgments.

4. Consequences of Retraction

Authors whose articles are retracted due to ethical misconduct may face the following consequences:

  • A ban on future submissions to the journal.
  • Notification of their affiliated institutions and funding agencies.
  • Listing of the retraction in academic misconduct databases.

5. Editorial Rights Regarding Corrections and Retractions

The editorial board of AIDIE reserves the right to:

  • Issue corrections and retractions independently based on identified concerns.
  • Request additional supporting documentation for verification purposes.
  • Reject retraction requests if sufficient justification is not provided.

6. Withdrawal vs. Retraction

It is important to distinguish between withdrawal and retraction:

Withdrawal Retraction
Requested before publication.
Usually due to author request or journal's discretion.
Happens after publication.
Due to ethical issues, errors, or misconduct.
No formal public notice is issued. A public notice is published, and the article is marked as retracted.

7. Correction and Retraction Fees

AIDIE does not charge fees for corrections or retractions. The process is conducted to ensure academic integrity and the credibility of the journal.
